Methods for making chinese herbal extracts??
Question: For any herbologists, please list specific methods of making concentrated extracts of chinese herbs and herbal formulations from raw herbs.
I am referring to concentrated, high potency extracts using alcohol, not the weak tinctures sold by some manufacturers. Tan Kwe Gin, Shou Wu Chih are some common extracts of the form im looking for. Though even a bit more concentrated than the shou wu chih formulas are sometimes.
So able to use smaller amounts in water for each serving.
Please list specific, detailed step by step methods.
Thanks.
Answers: Grab a little Chinese man and sqeeze him until he talks.
Oh, you said Herbal. Sorry.
What works for me is to start with the actual root, or sliced root, which u can pick up at most Asian markets. You bring a pot of water to a boil and fill it up with the root of your choice then take it off the burner. Let it soak over night, remove the roots and replace them with new roots and bring it up to a boil and then off. Repeat this several times, then remove the roots and simmer off most of the water over several hours. This leaves u with a very concentrated form of what ever root u started with.
