Do gift horses suffer from poor dental hygiene??

Answers: Well gift ponies have pretty bad hygiene so i assume that gift horses would be even worse.

F.Y.I. While it is true that you should NEVER look a gift horse in the mouth it is usually safe to look a gift pony in the mouth. Just make sure that while looking in its mouth no one sneaks up behind you and steals your holdall.
that's probable because you are warned not to examine them
The age and condition of a horse can be determined by examining its teeth. It is reasonable to do this, just like it is reasonable to know the age and number of miles when buying a car. When you are given a free horse, it is ungracious to look at the teeth, at least while the gift-er is watching.
i would say yes, because they say dont look a gift horse in the mouth, so must have bad teeth
No, you tell how old a horse is by looking at its teeth. Its like saying don't critisize a not particularly useful gift, you got it free.
Think so. Maybe that's why we shouldn't look them in the mouth!
We can't possibly know that, can we? I mean, we're told to never look them in the mouth, so - what can we do?
:))
i don tknow ive never looked
Horses' teeth are often used to estimate the animal's age, hence the sayings long in the tooth and Don't look a gift horse in the mouth .
I was always told never to look.
Only if the gifts aren't enough to pay for the vet.
Only on Tuesdays
hahahaha

it took me years to get that expression - my mum said it all the time when i was little! I finally realised that the mouth of a horse is its worst asset so don't use there to assess how good it is. I don't think any horses have good teeth!

EDIT

a psymon on here corrected me! thanks pysmon!
go ask a vet
And do clouds have silver linings to stop the cats and dogs from falling out?
Talk about mixing your metaphors!
