Need opinions on treadmills please??

Question: Hi, I am looking to buy a treadmill. I don't want anything too big, and it can't be too expensive. I've seen treadmills for $150 all the way to $1500+. I want to spend less than $500. It doesn't have to be really fancy, but I'm not sure which features are really important and which aren't - like if it has work out programs, manual incline, how fast it goes etc. I will be using it just for walking but my husband is in the Army and will be running on it. Can anyone give me suggestions of which brands are best, what to look for, and what to watch out for? Thanks!
Answers: I don't know which one is the best, but if your husband will be running on it, then it better be sturdy. Get an electronic one. I originally got a manual one and I sent it back. It stops when you stop walking, but an electronic one will force you to keep going. Go to Sears and stand on a couple of treadmills. Sometimes, you will want to hold onto the side bars with your arms, so you need to find a treadmill where the side bars are at a comfortable height. There are probably reviews of treadmills at www.epinions.com.
Well workouts arent really important on treadmills, just get one that can go up to 6mph, if your husband runs on it, hes not gonna be sprinting on it, so 4-6 mph are really good jogging and 2-3 1/2 are good for just a good cardio workout
Not to try pushing a product, but I recently purchased a NordicTrack C2155 Treadmill for my family. Having been in the Army myself I did look at the unit being able to stand up to the abuse of a large man (250lbs) running on it. My wife finds it easy enough to use and even my kids like it. It is a bit more expensive than the prices you are looking at ( I had the same thoughts on price when I went out looking ), but the features and ease of use are more than worth it. The nodictrack website has all the info on the unit. Check it out.
