Im thinking of buying a manual treadmill are they any good ??
Answers: Not really!
Don't do it, you can get fitter with a skipping rope, or walking up and down your stairs. It's a lot cheaper that way also.
I take it you refer to the manual ones which are human powered and not electrically driven by motors?
You could get a motor driven one for walking in your house, but not worth getting one that goes too fast, Argos does some good priced ones. Maybe look for a model with a gradient on it.
No, they are very hard to keep goin, An then you get tired alot faster.... ;)
Only if you use it and the chances are you probably won't. How many exercise machines in people's houses have you seen used as a clothes hanger.
No, they aren't very smooth and don't encourage you to run anymore than just running will.
Dont bother with them. You can do no better than getting out in the fresh air and walking / running there. The treadmill will end up unused and a 'clothes horse', get out and see the local area very well. If fear of attack / nusience is a factor arrange to go in a group or with a friend who can act as back-up for you, and you will get them fit into the bargain.
Not really. People get fed up using home fitness equipment. The money you would spend on it would be better put to use by joining you local sports centre for a year. Not only should you then get the use of the gym but also the other facilities they supply. On top of that it is easier to exercise in a sociable athmosphere.
