How can I get to sleep more quickly??
Question: Sometimes I am awake for hours, how can I get to sleep more quickly?
Answers: What causes sleeples nights?
When you think about it, there are so many reasons for this and the number of answers are endless!.
Joking apart, just thinking about this question could put you to sleep.
Generally though, it is thoughts going through you mind, worries about tomorrow or practical worries about your routines in life, such as finance, concerns about the future or maybe unselfish concerns about your relatives or direct family.
On the other hand, it could be a lack of exercise causing you to stay awake with boundless energy. Until recently when I started attending a gym, i experienced that problem myself.
Whatever you do, you dont want to get into bad habits to send you to sleep. So! drink is out. drugs of any type are out!,
If you are a young adult then exercise will work,- for example a brief walk before going to bed, the idea is to mentaly give you the wish to relax, and any exercise will do that. A soothing drink ( tea or traditional horlicks if you like it) when you get back and straight to bed.
It doesnt have to be extensive exercise, just a brief stroll and you will be amazed what affect it has on your ability to stay awake.
Others have mentioned reading a book. That does it for me without fail. I will give it 10 mins max before i have to put the light out.
Finaly, dont leave it too late before retiring to bed. My time is about now betwn 2300 and midnight. Any later and i dont sleep well.
Sleep tight and dont let the bed bugs bite!! Night Night.
warm milk with a little vanilla in it
hot bath, low lit room, quiet..
melatonin
gravol
Get plenty of exercise and fresh air. Cut out ALL caffeine.
Smoke some weed.
Take a text book and read it at bedside ... Make sure it is a text book something you find relatively boring, not something you like reading! Also make sure you are in bed when you start reading it (gets the whole ambience going lol)! Enjoy
less coffee , more reading
sit back n relax ...zzz
Only go to bed when you are dead tired. Think about it. If you're just going to lay there awake for 2 hours, that is a waste of time. Do something constructive with those 2 hours, make yourself tired, then go to sleep.
Also, make sure your room is pitch black. If that's not possible, then cover your eyes somehow. Light is stimulant that helps us wake up. So if you have any light in your room, you will tend to have trouble falling asleep.
Also, make sure you are plenty warm. Your body drops in temperature when you go to sleep. Keeping warm will put you in a more relaxed state.
At bedtime, you can listen to soothing music. They make alarm clocks that will play rainforest sounds (etc.) to relax you.
Get in a good routine, to start off with get up really early so you are tired the next night and get between 7-9 hours sleep
Try drinking a warm glass of milk or a cup of chamomile tea before sleeping. If you have something that is keeping you worried, write it down on paper and think about it the next day.
Mee too... So don't think... to your problems, look at the black of the eyes. Close your eyes. and sleep..!!
vodka does it for me
or what that guy said weed
or you could watch a chelsea game replay you will be asleep in seconds
Count the sheep!!!
Work hard for long hours and you will sleep like a log and you wouldn't even know.
Have a bath, a hot drink like horlicks, read something (but not a book which stimulates your brain too much), buy some low lights for your bedroom, make sure it is at the right temperature neither too hot or cold but well ventilated.
Avoid bright lights before going to bed. Apparently the light triggers something in your brain to keep you awake. Also, caffene and nicotene before bed is not good. I find taking a shower before bed makes sleep more restful and depending on how you sleep, some light music.
Nightnurse but out of a bottle not human !
You have named yourself The Gamer . If this suggests you play alot of video games, do not do this for a couple of hours prior to bedtime because it raises your adrenalin levels and heart rate.
Avoid caffeinated beverages prior to bedtime (try to be caffein-free for 4 hours prior to bedtime). Get plenty of exercise. Try to manage issues that cause you stress. Develop a sleep routine that involves going to bed and rising from bed at the same hours every day.
Reading always puts me to sleep
best way to go to have profound sleep is to do some meditation which relax u n there are many technique which helps to improve ur sleep and minimize dreams,
one tchnique u can try...
First stage : 5 minutes:
when u go to sleep switch off all the light and sit or lie down on bed and give instruction to ur body to relax
Second stage: 5 minutes:
than instruct ur mind to slow down the taught process
Third Stage: 5 minutes:
than slow down the breathing
I am sure if u try this technique u will have profound sleep:)
lay on the edge of your bed, you'll soon drop off
Well, there is a combination of things you could try, to find he one/s that work for you.
You should start by going to a doctor or psychologist to get an idea if it's a sympton of a physical or of a psychological problem/imbalance.
Assuming it is more of a psychological thing menifesting in physical ways...
You can listen to brain waves embedded into some relaxing music. Search for alpha waves or brain wave generator...
You should read about your condition and listen to some audiobooks. It gives you confidence and hope.
You may want to work out, or at least walk on a regular basis. The wear-offness is a great sleep inducer.
You may start experimenting with teas. I don't know the names in english... Just go to a herbal shop and ask.
Also there are a lot of nutrition suplements you could take, like triptophane, which is a precursor for serotonin ( i appologise for my spelling).
You have to live a purposeful life. Find things to do that you can be excited about. Improve social life, make plans. When you are living with purpose, problems lose much of their strength.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
