Does metabolism rebound after stopping Anti-Depressants??

Question: Like many other people, I gained 20lbs quickly after starting on Anti-Depressants. This is discouraging after being a stable weight my entire life.

Has anyone stopped Anti-depressants and seen their metabolism rebound?
Answers: I don't believe in metabolism. I too gained weight while on antidepressants, but it wasn't because my metabolism slowed. It was because I was was really tired while I was on them and all I did was sleep all day and get no exercise.

When I stopped the antidepressants, the weight did not magically disapear, I really, really had to work hard at it. I walked 40 minutes a day, ate a strict low fat diet, did weights a few times a week, etc.

I went back on antidepressants that others said gained weight, but if you move your body and don't overeat, you won't gain. It's hard, because some of them make you drop dead tired. If thats the case, stop it and find a new one.
I've been on anti-depressants for 7 yrs and I havent gained a pound.I wish I could gain some weight.
Yes mine went back to normal if you still need anti-depressants talk to your doctor and he can put you on something that won't make you gain weight. I am a very small girl and I am underweight as it is but when I was on anti-depressants I lost more weight and I didn't like the way I looked so the doctors switched my medicine and than I gained my weight back.
