Happy lamp??

Question: I have received a 'happy lamp' as a gift. I don't know much about them... but I do want to know more, like:

Can you get a sunburn from them?

What good do they do?

How can they help with depression?

Any other information anybody has is great... thanks =]
Answers: See S.A.D., at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in section 2, and read the whole section. They mimic the sun's rays, producing vitamin D through exposure of skin, to light. Follow the instructions that came with it. If using the cod liver oil (or capsule type supplements), you won't need as much light exposure, which may cut power costs. Both are for use in winter months only.

I think you may be referring to Seasonal affective disorder, which can be helped by exposure to sunlight. Check out this link.
I don't know if they can burn you--I know that for people with seasonal affective disorder (seasonal depression) it can help out tremendously. The light mimics the sun so it tends to make people happier. I know that when I went to a tanning salon once, I felt really good under those lights. I would try out your lamp though--I asked my therapist about them and she said good things about it.
