Glasses Anxiety Help?>??
Question: Hey I wanted to know if anyone else experiences this, ive been wearing glasses since about 13, im 22 now and ive always noticed that when I am not wearing my glasses i feel a lot more layed back, relaxed, outgoing, funny and creative etc...
when I do wear my glasses though I feel more anxious, tend to overthink things, and just generally feel... different... it is sort of hard to explain
the closest symptoms though are those found with common anxiety, I search Yahoo Answers and sort of found 1 or 2 people that are somewhat similar to me.
I mean its not THAT bad but I like the way I think and feel more without them then with them, its too bad without them I can't really see SQUAT!!
anyways if anyone else experiences this or has an explantion (maybe some experts who deal operate in the field??) then I strongly urge you to reply
thanks everyone
Answers: Yeah, you seem like an ideal candidate for lasik or contacts. Personally, I have heard of too many complications cases with lasik, though most seem very happy. I'm just too chicken.
Contacts seem much easier and guaranteed to me. If you think you can handle futzing around the eye area, and touching your eyeball slightly, I really would look into them. This spectacle anxiety seems like a real drag. Contacts seems like an easy answer, although if the problem is neurological in nature, related to your vision, they may deliver the same results as eyeglasses.
So the question to ask yourself, is it perhaps the blurrier distorted vision that makes you more creative, funny and relaxed? Or is it the constraints of actual eyeglasses on your face? Interesting to think about...
I love my contacts, and always feel like a robot with limited vision with my glasses on. I only wear them when I have to (I also think eyeglasses make me look like that demented Dr. Cyclops from those 1950's movies...!)
It's possible that your anxious when you wear your glasses.
Have you considered wearing contact lenses? Maybe Lasik surgery would work for you.
I hated wearing glasses when I was younger and went to wearing contacts, then a few years ago, I got the lasik surgery and have been quite happy with the results.
i totally feel this way... i do have contacts, but i almost never wear my glasses because of the same thing you're describing... i absolutely hate this!
