What's wrong with my eye??
Question: Last night I went to bed and my eye was fine. This morning wheen I woke up it felt a little gritty inside. I thought it was because I was still tired. It has bothered me all day and feels like it might have a scratch or something on it. I don't see where there is anything wrong but I can feel something wrong. What do you think it could be and how do you think it happened while I was sleeping?
Answers: I can only think of maybe two things it could be. It could be a cyst or a sty that formed overnight. Or maybe you scratched your cornea in the night somehow. I dont know how that could have happened while you were sleeping though. Ive scratched my cornea before so I know its pretty painful and your eye waters alot. So if you dont have those symptoms, it may be a sty. If it dosent go away soon or hurts badly you should probably see a doctor. Never mess around when it comes to your eyes.
Man sometimes I love reading this vision questions and people just assume the worst...
Here's the deal:
I don't know where you are geographically but I bet this... you are somewhere were you are experiencing a colder climate than usual.
It's winter and during the winter everything on you get drier from a lack of humidity. Your skin, your hair, your nasal cavities and YES your eyes.
Now at night your eyes experience REM (rapid eye movement). This helps increase the dry feeling. And during the day you probably use the computer alot, which causes you to blink less and then you probably drive in a car with the heat on...
The gritty sensation is completely common.
Here's all you have to do:
Go out tonight before you go to bed.
Pick up eyedrops called Refresh Celluvisc. Put one drop in each eye before bed. Now this drops are going to feel gell-like and very thick. They will also make your vision kinda blurry, not very clear. (That's normal and okay)
When you wake up tomorrow your eyes should feel alot better. Just do this every night for like the next week and it should help.
Real easy, dry eye. no scratch.
It could just be some mucus from allergies. Try to get it out by rinsing eye with saline solution. Or you could've scratched your cornea. If not better after rinsing, see a Dr.
