Lazy eye?or not??
Question: not sure if thiers a problem with my eye, having eye test soon so ill see!i have perfect vision out of my right eye and with both eyes combined,i dont think i have lazy eye cause i dont squint.i can see out of my left eye but not as perfect as it is out of the right, its okay id presume, but need it to be 6/36 for the army, dont have any idea how good that is?
Answers: I'm not really sure why you're posting a question asking this when you are going to have an eye test soon....
The eye test will tell you this.
A squinting eye (strabismus), and a lazy eye (amblyopia) are not the same thing: though an eye not infrequently has both, *either* can be present on their own.
If one eye has poorer vision, it might be amblyopia, simply a missing focussing Rx, or pathology in the eye: cataract, macular disease, optic atrophy...
About one person in thirty is essentially one-eyed, and many more have a distinctly better eye even with best glasses.
If your poorer eye could scrape by the driving standard, (number plate at 20.5 metres) it's 6/18 or better: no problem.
6/36 is the second line on most eye-charts,
If the vision in the left eye in the distance improves when you look through a 1mm pinhole held close to the eye, it's almost certainly a simple refractive error.
Similarly if the left eye is good at close vision (see which eye is better at 30 cm)
But otherwise, sorting out the exact cause will have to wait for the examination.
No one can answer this question without examining your eyes. You will get the answer after your eye test.
