What does it mean if I see shooting silver spots in my peripherall vison??

Question: Every once in a while I'll get that bright flash and intense pressure in my head when I stand up. I've come to think that's normal (is it?) What's bothering me is that within the last few years I've started to occasionally see what looks like silver glitter shooting forward from my peripheral vision. What causes this and should I get it checked out?
Answers: Please don't panic as it is likely to be caused by standing up to quickly and the blood rushing from your head. However you should make an appointment with your optician to have a check up as flashing lights and pain can be a sign of something more serious such as retinal detachment (although probably not cataracts!). However this is rare and the optician will be able to check your sight and the health of your eye, as well as the pressure in your eyes and your peripheral vision. None of these tests will hurt so get yourself booked in for a sight test to reassure yourself that everything is ok. Hope this helps :)
Cataracts.Yes, get it checked out.
I think it just means you're standing up to fast and the blood is rushing to your head. This happens to me sometimes too.
