Is it ok to swim with contacts??

Question: My eye doctor said no even with goggles, but my friend said she does. What should I do when I go swimming?
Answers: yes you can as long as you don't open your eyes underwater and make sure that no chlorine gets into your eyes. my doctor told me not to, but i do anyways. it truly doesn't bother me.

hope i helped! :]
no no if you really want to keep them.
no you shouldnt, the chlorine in the pool can leak in and damage the contacts and it hurts a lot. it can also make your contact fall out. i wouldnt try it
okay so i always wear mine in the pool with goggles, i never lost a pair and for me, it's not a problem but now that i've read everyone's answer.. i dont know if i will anymore.. haha
No. Just because ur friend does it doesn't mean it's okay. Yes, a lot of people do it, but don't be a chameleon and do the same. 1st, ur doc. said no he knows best. He went to college for 10+ years for this. 2nd, the chlorine and germs can be absorbed into ur contacts, water can leak in while closing your eyes, especially if u have permeable ones. Eyes are precious, you cant buy new ones, don't risk it. and you have a huge chance of loosing them. Try prescription goggles. But whatever you do, don't swim with contacts on. If you aren't going to listen, at least put goggles on, and . I hope you listen to ur doctors and my advie, happy swimming
no! do not have your contacts on when swimming.
i decided to give that a try one day at the beach, luckily nothing happened and i still had my both of my contacts on by the end of the day. after that single experience, i decided my contacts wouldn't fall out at the pool.. i was wrong. after my swim, i had my right contact on but had lost the left one..
so again, i suggest you take out your contacts when you go swimming..
yes, that sucks =(
It probably wouldn't be a good idea.

I've done it several times, both in a swimming pool and an ocean.

It's very easy for your contacts to come out of your eyes when you're swimming with them.
Also, it hurts like hell, if you're swimming in the ocean.(it also makes it really easy for them to tear.)
no
If you feel like loosing a pair of contacts in a pool with filters then go ahead. But that wouldnt be smart. Eye doctors say things for a reason. Dont wear them into the pool, think of every time you wipe your eyes because of the water. First, its not good to rub you eyes with contacts in because it would make them either fall out or be extremely uncomfortable. Goggles can still fill with water making the chlorine and silicone mix which isnt good. In summary, just dont try it!
noo please dont ruin your expensive contacts. take them out and wear glasses or just take them out and put them back in after your done swimming. Itll cost more if you ruin your contacts.
no you will lose them and you may damage your eyes.you shouldn't risk it.
If you do wear your contacts when swimming, wear a good pair of goggles. Otherwise, do not wear your contacts. Trust me, it's not a good idea. Besides possibly losing your contacts and damaging them with chlorine, most importantly, you could get a terrible eye infection called acanthamoeba. Let's just put it this way, it is really bad and can cause vision loss and the need for a corneal transplant. Do not wear your contacts while swimming unless wearing goggles!!!
I swim with my contacts in, because I cant really see otherwise. Sure, you can do it, just be careful. The cholorine might dry your contacts out, so dont touch them, or they might fall out. Also, your eyes may hurt a little. And dont open your eyes underwater or else you might lose them too.

Just try it.....it cant hurt. And that's the only way to determine if it will work for you.
When you swim with your contacts, there is a huge chance that your contacts will roll into the back of your eye because the pressure of the water will push it there. You may use goggles but sometimes water can penetrate through goggles, also. So i just wouldn't swim with them just because it is the safest thing to do.
